Whilst business trends are changing to keep pace with the economic turmoil of today, the world of medical tourism especially in countries like Thailand, India, Singapore and now Malaysia are enjoying tremendous growth which will continue to grow. And this growth is at far rapid pace than previously estimated.

Up to last year, Malaysia enjoyed a good number of Medical Tourists who came in for various procedures ranging from simple health screening to dental procedures to orthopedic surgeries and more. But this year the government under the stewardship of the honourable Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak has put Medical Tourism on its agenda as a new sector of growth, a vision to build newer and more attractive growth markets for Malaysia. And hence the sector of Medical Tourism is set to see a boom.

This belief was further reinforced in a brief online interview with <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://www.2tastyfood.com” target=”_blank”>Dr.Mubbashir Iftikhar of D.E. Impex Sdn Bhd who says, “It’s certainly a vibrant industry and the number of patients are growing year to year. More difficult the economic conditions become, more cash strapped employers become and they will no doubt look for low cost measures to maintain the health of their workers. He further says, “I am talking of big ticket procedures like heart bypass and orthopedic surgery patients who need to get timely treatment, else they delay in their treatment poses a great danger to their well being. It is a big reality that the giants in medical expenses market of America are willing to send their employees on long haul flights all the way across to Asia for these procedures. Malaysia ranks at top from some other Asian countries in terms of language, treatment facilities and infrastructure. It is just that we are under marketed internationally. But even that will be overcome, now that the government sees the potential and economic gain in this sector.”

Although there are no documented statistics but a brief check with some private hospitals in the Klang Valley region alone have confirmed that numbers are growing every year by word of mouth and the Internet being the major marketing tool. As Ministry of Health Malaysia, Malaysian Hospitals and Medical Tourism Facilitators like Wellness Visit has made more collaborative efforts to widely promote healthcare services in Malaysia, a better response is coming from international medical travelers and tourists.

Indeed, Medical Tourism which encompasses the medical sector and the hospitality industry have both seen the benefits this industry has brought about and many Malaysian doctors and surgeons are sought after by patients worldwide. And the hits that Wellness Visit gets everyday is testimony of this. At average 70% of hits at Wellness Visit come from Search Engines. Of which almost 50% contact for services and procedures offered by Malaysian Healthcare providers and some of these enquiries are also from within Malaysia. We have great potential in building this sector with support from the relevant ministries and also the government.” In noting this growing trend with international patients from all parts of the globe, hospitals in Malaysia are expanding to accommodate the fast growing numbers. They are also setting up International patient facilities, multi language translators, up to date equipment and developing centers of excellence. Specialist centers are getting more patient oriented in that the doctors are able to educate their “clients” whether face to face, via the Net or over the phone.

http://www.wellnessvisit.com

Are you traveling to Australia, New Zealand or South East Asia? Many travelers from Europe, North America and other parts of Asia now enjoy a few days’ stopover in Singapore. It’s exotic, unique and clean and you’ll love it! Here are some suggestions to help you with your exploration of The Lion City.

WALKING.
Singapore, situated near the Equator, is warm to hot year round, so being outside for long periods can be tiring. However if you really want to discover the city, walking is the best way. Chinatown is an example. To explore this area with its fascinating back streets and surprises, you need to walk. It is less easy to walk along Orchard Road, with its busy streets, overpasses and underpasses.

Fortunately, shopping and walking is made a little easier in the eastern part of town. Many of the major hotels are connected by shopping malls, some underground. So walking in air conditioned comfort along shopping arcades can be a pleasant experience. An example is Marina Square Mall connected by arcades to Raffles Square and City Hall MRT underground station.

TRAINS.
Singapore’s underground trains are fast, clean and efficient. They transport large masses of people in this city of over 4 million citizens and provide easy access to most parts of the city and outlying suburbs.

Using them is easy.

Most one way fares are less than $3 and you use a machine. Just press the standard fare sign on the touch screen followed by your destination name/number. Out comes your computer card (not a ticket) together with your change. Place it on the entrance gate and you’re in.

Remember that there are 2 main lines, north/south and east/west, so look for the train’s destination to work out which line to travel on. When you reach your destination, place your card back in the machine and you receive a dollar refund! How good is that? It saves litter and the card can be used again.

You will also notice that the trains and stations are clean and graffiti free. How refreshing. I wonder how they do it! I made this comment to a Singaporean train traveler and his reply was swift. “They wouldn’t dare!” he said.

BUSES.
Buses are used extensively by Singaporeans, but unless you know exactly where you want to go, they are best avoided. A good option, if you are a first time visitor, is to use tour buses, stopping at places spread around the city.

You also receive a running commentary and the cost is $12. For your day’s ticket, you can hop on and off as often as you choose.

If you have traveled on Singapore Airlines, keep your boarding pass, as this airline also runs a hop on, hop off service around the city (including the Botanical Gardens) and it will cost you just $3. Look for the SIA buses and ask for a route map. Your boarding pass also entitles you to many shopping discounts, so it’s worthwhile keeping!

TAXIS.
For convenience, comfort and low cost, taxis are hard to beat, particularly if you are with your partner or family. Most taxi fares within the city are less than $5 and even when we returned to the city from the zoo and night safari, the fare was only $15. Most taxi fares from the city to Changi Airport are around the same price, but check before you travel, as prices can vary.

After a busy day’s shopping and sightseeing, to be dropped off at the front entrance to your hotel is sheer bliss, particularly when you know that the pool and a cold drink are only 5 minutes away!

Beautiful Calgary practically nestles against the Rocky Mountains while the Bow River merrily gushes nearby. This Canadian city is a big draw amongst tourists thanks to its natural endowments and idiosyncratic events.

And if you thought the only shopping area in the world was Singapore or Dubai, think again. Calgary has one of the world’s greatest shopping districts in the dynamic Eau Claire area with over 60 stores, services, and restaurants, and as many as six Cineplex screens. There are some great luxury hotels in the vicinity too, like the Sheraton Suites Eau Claire. Catering to the well-heeled, this five star luxury hotel is greatly sought after due to its location. The lovely white soft linen and the sandstone tiled bathroom are truly enticing.

If you are in time for the Calgary Stampede you might prefer to stay in the Westin Calgary which is one of the few <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://travel.justluxe.com/?ref=dex” title=”five star hotels “>five star hotels that will give you a special offer for the event. The Calgary Stampede happens to be a festival, rodeo, and exhibition rolled into one; it is also one of the most spectacular shows held on earth every July. Don’t miss the Stampede Parade on the opening day as it is truly colorful and peculiar to the ethos of the place.

The Westin Calgary also has a lovely pool where you can relax and enjoy yourself. Rather interestingly, this luxury hotel is divided into two with one half which is quite ancient and comprises the larger suites. The second half has smaller but modern rooms. The Eau Claire Market is pretty approachable from this luxury hotel.

The slightly la di da crowd, however, would prefer to stay at an ‘icon’ five star luxury hotel like the Fairmont Palliser. The rooms are large and comfortable and there is a traditional lobby that actually looks quite cool. What is more, there is also a luxury spa beneath the lobby that you can avail of and relax in.

From the Fairmont Palliser you can walk over to the Calgary Tower where a dekko from the observation terrace is a must- the city looks spectacular from up top. There are 762 steps that take you there but before you panic let it be known that there are two elevators waiting in attendance to take you up in a jiffy.

Going past the Calgary Tower into Chinatown you will find yourself walking beside the banks of the Bow River. A leafy paradise, surely.

Do take the time to drive up into the Canadian Rockies with its spread of national parks and snow-topped mountains. The scenic splendor is calculated to leave the most seasoned traveler breathless. The only downside (during summer) is that its hilly town of Banff tends to get frightfully crowded while hotel prices shoot up sky high.

Away from the hustle-bustle of the town, you might want to take a walk in Johnson’s Canyon, one of those rare beauty spots practically untouched by human civilization. Hikers, of course, love the Kanaskis and skiers sites like Lake Louise.

Calgary, in sum, is a great tourism place.

Singapore has been consistently high-ranked for many reasons in real estate reports from different parts of the globe. Found in the midst of international trade routes, the city-state is one of the best places for overseas investors. With a very progressive real estate industry, it is the best time to invest in Singapore property.

Rent or Purchase HDB Flats

HDB is short for Housing Development Board. The Singapore government agency holds the responsibility of providing affordable housing for Singaporean citizens. Over 50 percent of the Singapore population rent these flats.

For anyone wishing to stay in Singapore for a long period of time, there are a number of conditions that you have to be qualified to buy a new HDB flat. First of all, you must be a Singapore citizen. To buy a 2-room flat, your gross monthly household income should not be over 2,000 Singaporean dollars. To buy a 3-room flat, your gross monthly household income should not be over 3,000 and to buy a 4-room or larger flat, it should not be over 8,000. If you do purchase a flat with your extended family, then your gross monthly household income must not exceed 12,000. If you are a Permanent Resident or a young single (younger than 35 years), you may not be able to obtain a cheaper flat. Your other choice is to buy or rent out a private condominium unit, but evidently, the cost will be more.

Buying Singapore Property

Since 2005 foreigners are able to purchase apartments in all buildings without requiring approval from the Singapore Authorities. Initial rules regarding the apartment block having to be higher than 6 stories and categorized as a condominium have been scrapped. A foreign individual or anyone who is not a Singapore citizen, Singapore society, Singapore Company or Singapore limited liability partnership will still ask for permission from the Singapore Land Authority to purchase land-titled property like houses, vacant plots of land and bungalows.

Mortgages can be acquired for buying all freehold properties and some leasehold properties based on the unexpired lease term and usage. You should look into the real estate market valuation for the property you wish to purchase. Also see to it that your income proof and credit standing will allow you to borrow the necessary amount. Remember, Singapore banks can lend only up to 80 percent of the sale price or valuation to foreigners as well, and they will ask for proof of earnings. For assistance, contact a real estate agent.

How To Sell Singapore Property

If you plan to sell, make a comparative analysis of your property, outline the benefits of things like facilities and accessibility to public transportation, and market value. Also obtain a bank valuation. Choose the best way to effectively market your property such as using classifieds and professional agencies. Screen prospective buyers when they contact you, choose your buyers and schedule an appointment for them to inspect your property. Before you open your property for inspection, make sure it is presentable. To sell fast, follow-up with prospective buyers on their top offer, keep a good business relationship, and negotiate when necessary.

Help answer the question about screen singapore

Where to find ultraportable laptops in Singapore?
I will be in Singapore for a few days in late October and want to buy a laptop there. Anyone know where I can find a small, lightweight laptop at a decent price? I'm looking for a 12" screen or less, and weighing less than 5 pounds (2.25 kg). I was thinking of the Averatec 2300 but am open to other options, hopefully costing less than $1200. Thanks for your help!
BTW I meant 1200 in USD.
I don't know about in Singapore, but in Europe ultraportables are not often stocked in stores as there is not enough demand. So, I was hoping for something more detailed than "any electronics store!"

Experts agree that finding suitable instruments for investment holding has been a long and on- going struggle. To make matters worse, recent world economic events have lead many global financial institutions to take more stringent and preventive measures to screen the simple acceptance of funds from undesirable sources. Internal policies implemented by many banks now stand as obstacles for offshore companies that wish to open new bank accounts. As a result, opening new offshore bank accounts can be an arduous process.

A viable investment holding option would be to make Singapore an offshore jurisdiction by incorporating a company in Singapore. A Singapore company can be viewed on par or even better than many other offshore companies. Services and products offered through a Singapore offshore international centre provide clients with wealth maximization and tax minimization benefits.

Many clients believe that it is impossible for Singapore to achieve the same results as other well known offshore jurisdictions, however this is a misconception. Following are some key considerations to support choosing Singapore as an offshore jurisdiction.

1. Incorporate Offshore for Substantial Tax Savings

One of the attractive features of going offshore to Singapore is that it has minimal tax. Recent developments in tax and corporate law in Singapore have made it easy to use a Singapore incorporated company to achieve the same results as that of a traditional tax haven company. Some of the tax and corporate law changes in Singapore include:

Singapore has abolished the two-tier tax system. Income of a corporation is only taxed once at the corporate level. Dividend payments by a Singapore company are not taxable to the recipients.

Income that is sourced from outside of Singapore is not taxable in Singapore.

Capital gains are not taxable in Singapore.

The corporate tax rate is 17%.

A company (of not more than 20 individual shareholders) with annual turnover of S$2.5 million or less (revised to S$5 million after one year) is exempt from annual statutory audits.

Singapore has a wide network of tax treaties. In certain cases, tax treaties can be used for the reduction of taxes in treaty countries where investments are held.

In summary Singapore offers many benefits for an offshore company. Individuals can open bank accounts with ease and hence carry on with financial transactions associated with the company without facing any problems. Singapore is regarded as a jurisdiction of a “premium stature” when compared to other offshore jurisdictions. This “premium stature” gives the investor a competitive advantage with regards to the clients, potential investors and business authorities.

2. Government incentives to support incorporation in Singapore

The Singapore government plays a keen and active role in developing a conducive environment for enterprise growth, nurturing innovative startups, developing key industry clusters, and growing dynamic and innovative growth-oriented enterprises. The government has implemented numerous schemes in line with developing and upgrading infrastructure and creating new market opportunities. For example the SME Management Action for Results (SMART) initiative provides Singapore based incorporated companies with consultancy advice and monetary support to develop enhanced management systems and processes.

The government provides assistance schemes in attaining an Employment Pass for foreign Entrepreneurs who are ready to incorporate a company in Singapore. They also provide Entrepreneurship Training for professionals, managers, executives and technicians.

To alleviate the financial burden, the government has financing schemes to support the growth of SME’s. The Bridging Loan Program (BLP) provides loans of up to $5 million for local and foreign SMEs with a minimum 5% interest rate for loan tenure of 4 years and below. The Business Angels Funds provides Singapore-based companies a co-investment financing option from pre- approved angel groups, up to $1.5 million in matching capital. SPRING Singapore is a government department tasked with growing innovative companies and fostering a competitive SME sector.

It is apparent from the numerous government initiatives that Singapore provides a potentially profitable platform for company incorporation. The assistance and financial schemes help to create an environment conducive for company set up. Entrepreneurs who fulfill the stipulated criteria can easily attain government assistance to set up and grow their business operation.

Is it more worth it to fix a cracked iPod Nano 1st Gen screen or upgrade?
I recently cracked my iPod screen… My iPod is a 1st Gen Nano. I've had it for about 3 years. Because I'll be back in Singapore this week, I was wondering if it was more worth the money to get the screen fixed or upgrade to a bigger iPod.
